Micro Cap RF Filter Specialist Sees Large Unusual Call Buyer
Akoustis Technologies (AKTS) seeing IV rise as an unusual buyer of 5000 December $5 calls at $0.30 to $0.35 with the stock under 3 as the September $5 calls adjust out further. AKTS is a micro cap Semi name which operates through two segments: foundry fabrication services and RF Filters. Its foundry fabrication services segment consists of engineering review services and STC-MEMS foundry services. Its RF Filters segment consists of amplifier and filter product sales, and grant revenue. It develops RF filters for fifth generation (5G), wireless fidelity (WiFi) and defense bands through its resonator device models and product design kits (PDKs). B Riley recently initiating coverage at Buy, $9.25 PT and saying AKTS offers one of the Semiconductor sector’s most robust 5G sales growth and GM expansion outlooks, aided by early January’s revenue growth and GM-accretive GDSI deal, a just-completed $30M capital raise where B. Riley was a lead underwriter, and a fresh high-volume mobile filter order from its lead customer. We believe AKTS’s single-crystal BAW technology is technically robust with a strong patent portfolio and positioned at the RF market’s growthier high end, lending an advantaged position for next-gen WiFi, cellular infrastructure, and mobile design wins in the years ahead. The stock is under 3 but back near levels where its seen strong rebound from in late 2022 as it held the 2.50 level of yearly value area support. 2022 yearly POC volume node is at 3.60 while upside to the 5.50 level would be a target on a move higher this year.
